Quick bites (for at work)

Hello everyone,

I just started working at an office which I am really exited about. The only thing that concerned me when started working was eating healthy. I can be that very lazy person who will spend her (lunch)breaks in the canteen/cafetaria. I am a 100%  motivated to avoid that! Today I will share with you my quick bites which don’t even require a knife or a vork. These quick bites will keep you full and be able to live a healty lifestyle at work.

1. A good breakfast is key, if you start the day with something filling like oats and grains it will help you to feel awake, energized and full. Ready to start the day! I usually start the day with a bowl of oats with some low fat yoghurt. Another tip is to take time for your breakfast if you have trouble with eating in the morning because it is better to have breakfast than not to.

Oats

2. Fruits & Veggies. Take a tupperware box with you or something you can keep your fruit and vegetables in. Take fruit and vegetables with you that you love to eat, then you are more likely to actually eat them during the day. I brought some cherry tomatoes and some grapes.

Tomatoes

3. Lets go nuts. Nuts are full of vitamins and will give you energy. You only need a handful to keep yourself healthy and fit. My choice of nuts are walnuts and cashews nuts.

4. Go back in the day and make yourself happy with some raisins. As a kid I used to get raisins as a snack from my grandmother because it is a healthy snack. So why not use raisins as a snack when you are older? Raisins are full of vitamins, fibers and minerals.

Raisins

5. When it is 4 o’clock I need a pick me up. Fruit, nuts and vegetables will not do at this point. That is where I need my bouillon, or cup of soup. The saltness wakes me up!

Have a nice day everybody. With love Irina ♡

Five Fall Fashion Favorites

Hello everyone,

Since fall is approaching quickly I thought I would share with you my five fall fashion favorites. I just got a proper 9 to 6 job so I have to wear neat clothes everyday and look perfectly chique. I am lucky that this fall/winter trend of 2015 is very chique and neat too. Long coats, turtlenecks, not too much crazy colours and a lot of suits and long skirts are the trend of this fall 2015. The fashion of this fall is very earthy toned. Grey, white, black, dark green and brown are the colours to stock in your wardrobe.

1.Loafers
I love loafers, they are so easy to wear. Just slip in your feet and your done. You can buy them with or without a heel. You can wear your loafers under a skirt, dress or jeans, they will go with everything. Loafers are so comfortable you are good to go and ready to run to the office. I love these snake printed loafers on ASOS.

2. Suits
Suits are the fall trend of 2015. It does not matter which colour, high- or low waisted. A suit can look very sexy on women too, just find the right pair for you and a colour which suits your skintone. It is just perfect to change up your skirts and dresses with some nice pants for a while to wear to the office. This suit is perfect!

3. High waisted skirts
You can never go wrong with high waisted skirts, those extra winter pounds won’t show if you hide your belly in your skirt. Also a high waisted skirt looks very classy with some high heels and a blazer. Especially suede and button-up high waisted skirts are a must-have this fall. Take a look at this suede and button-up suede skirt.

4. All black all day everyday
If you would ask me to open my closet most you will see is black. I love black, and I also mostly wear black, all black.. I am not a dark person and I am not a Gothic but as a blond girl dark colours do look good with your hair. You can never go wrong with an all black outfit. All black looks serious and classy.

blake black
I
love this all black outfit from Blake Lively.

5. Turtlenecks
Turtlenecks, you maybe think that is something your grandma used to wear. But turtlenecks are in. Turtlenecks makes it look like you stand up straight and they keep you warm on cold days. Choose turtleneck sweaters or shirts in standard colours so you can easily pair them with all kinds of jackets or blazers.

Enjoy fall fashion people. Have a nice day, with love Irina ♡

Scheveningen Pier

Hello everyone,

Just like the famous Santa Monica Pier in the United States, we have a less famous one in the Netherlands located in Scheveningen (the Hague). The Pier in Scheveningen opened in 1961 and was closed in 2013. After renovation this year the Pier is reopend in July 2015. There are many new cool things to do and look at on the Pier so I thought I would share some pictures with you. It is an absolute must do or see when you are in the neighbourhood, it feels like you walk into a foodfestival. Where there is food, life is good.

Here are some pictures of the bars & foodtrucks at the Scheveningen Pier.

On the 28th of August we ate burgers at Pickles, Burgers & Wines. It was soo goood. I actually want one right now! The seasoning over the fries is just to die for.

At the end of the Pier there are two restaurants, the Pier North and the Pier South. Both spaces have something unique.

When the weather is good you can also eat on top of the Pier.

Things can get hot!

Hello everyone,

Welcome to another bright and delightful day and it is time for another blogpost.
Today things can get hot on momentofhappiness, I will talk about deodorant!
I am, like almost all people scared as ‘idontknow’ to smell, when my friends and I were clubbing and we were dancing and sweating we always asked the question to eachother; ‘Do I smell?’ a thousand times. I used to use spray deodorants, I loved the strong AXE ones, even the mens version. Spray deodorants can be very irritating for the skin, the percentage of alcohol is very high in spray deodorants. I found that after using a spray deodorant you smell awesome for two hours, like you just came out of the shower but after two hours it smells rubbish and it does not help preventing sweating at all.

Since one month I started using roll-on deodorant, you might think; Ieww that is very unclean. I put my roll-on deodorant on after I shower every morning and I noticed that I only have to apply it once or maybe twice a day and it prevents me from sweating all day. The difference is so remarkable that I had to share it with you. Roll-on deodorant does not sting your skin, it prevents sweating more than I ever experienced and you do not smell at all. I have a couple of roll-on deodorants know and I wanted to share my two favorites with you.

deodorant

Tip: Make sure to wash your armpits well when you shower after using the roll-on deodorant. The roll-on can leave a little bit of residu on the skin and you do not want to glog your pores.

I hope you have a wonderful day everybody, with love Irina

AirBnB a must try!

Hello everyone,

Last weekend I was in France in Dunkerque and had my second AirBnB experience. It was Mike’s 27th birthday and as far as he did know we would go to France together. He did not know that two friends of us came on this trip too, we had a little surprise event planned at their house and after telling Mike that instead of just the two of us it would be with the four of us it was time to start the roadtrip to France. I had rent an AirBnB house near Dunkerque which is a surf spot in the North of France. For you who don’t know what AirBnB is I will explain it! AirBnB is a website that makes it possible for everyone to rent houses all over the world. The offer is huge, from renting a treehouse to luxury villa’s in Ibiza. Whatever you like AirBnB has it. Sometimes you prefer the cozyness of a real house instead of a hotel room. This weekend we were with friends, and cooking together and playing games around the table was one of the main things we wanted to do, just chilling out! We found that a house was a better surrounding to relax together then a hotel room.

happy birthday

AirBnB is very user-friendly, just type in the place where you want to go and when and the website will automatically show you which houses are available at that time and place and for which price. You can fill in the maximum amount you want to spend per night and how many nights you want to stay too. Be aware that with most of the houses you have to stay the minimum amount of two nights if you want to rent it. Don’t be scared to try, all places and people are checked by AirBnB itself, you don’t have to be scared that it is a waste of money. Always check out the references, they will tell you if the house was exactly like it looked like on the pictures, how the owners are and what the plus and downsides are of this house!

We stayed in this lovely little cottage with a nice garden and a balcony inside the house. We really wanted to stay! Click on the link for more pictures of the house!

IMG_20150816_125700[1]

Another plus side of renting a house on the AirBnB website is that the owners of the house are most of the times locals of the area you are staying in. They can give you the best tips on which things to visit and which not! When we stayed in Dunkerque we went to a town called Bergues (Bergen) and we had a stroll around the city wall. After that we ate some celebratory icecreams! We had the best time, thanks to AirBnB and the owners of the cottage.

New in!

Hello everyone,

I just wanted to share the stuff that I bought today on my little shopping spree! Some are a repurchase like the Rituals Aftersun and the Body Shop White Musk body mist. They are just the best for sunny days like we have now in the Netherlands. New in are the Body Shop eyecream and Rituals Lipliner.

All the purchases

I  bought a lipliner at the Rituals store. Rituals make up is made of natural ingredients and it is free of animal testing. That is reason enough to buy some of the rituals make up. The lipliner is called arrogant and is a nice ruby red, it stays and does not stray! Yay!

The orange bottle is a Happy Buddha showergel which I got given as a present because I spent over a thirty euros. I had this showergel before and it smells fresh like oranges. Perfect to use for a good wake up call during your morning shower.

I also bought the Body Shop Nutriganics eye cream. I have had the aloe vera eye defence before from the Body Shop but that is more for sensitive skin. When I was teaching kitesurfing all day in the water my skin and my eyes got really sensitive so I used the eye defence. Now I spend most of my days behind the computer and sometimes on the water I do not need the eye defence anymore. The Nutriganics smoothing eye cream is for people in their mid twenties who are starting to get fine lines. This eye cream is there to prevent fine lines and the first symptoms of getting older. The smoothing eye cream is made of 98% natural ingredients.

My love for this Rituals Aftersun is big. I also use it just as a body lotion. The smell, the cold feeling, everything is just perfection. Give it a try if you walk by a Rituals store!

Festival Survival Tips

Hello everyone,

You may have noticed that I went to a festival for my birthday(party). I went to Solar festival in the South of the Netherlands in Roermond. I went for three days with a total group of eight. When you are going to a weekend or festival you have to stay over at the festival camping. Here are my festival survival tips!

1 Pack light
Do not overpack. You have to carry a tent, an inflatable bed, a sleeping bag and a towel that is already heavy enough. Try to bring enough socks and underwear so you are clean for sure in those areas. Bring one sweater for the nighttime but bring only one outfit a day! You can wear your shorts the whole weekend, no problem!

2 Pack easy to carry bags
In the end how many or how less you pack it is always irritating to carry all your lugage from the bus to the camping area. In the summer it is hot, you get sweaty and if your stuff drops all the time you will be unhappy by the time you arrive at the camping. It does not matter how much you pack but pack easy to carry bags. Choose a backpack, or as I did a kitesurfbag and you will fit almost all your stuff in there. You put it on your back and your ready to go!

3 Help your friends and the other way around
Do you have a spare hand left? Does someone need help with putting their tent together? Help eachother! The sooner you are all ready to go to the party!

4 Bring mini size beauty related stuff
Bring mini’s, mini shampoo or a two in one shampoo and bodywash and a mini toothpaste. It is so much easier to carry around. Also pack your liquids apart from your clothes, if they leak you have no clothes to wear.

5 Bring wipes, face, hand or body
This does not need much explanation. Festivals are dir to the tayyy. You get brown of dirt, beer and festival toilets. If you bring some wipes you feel refreshed and a lot better!

6 Bring something to sit on
This can be a towel or a mini-chair but after standing the whole day it is nice to relax in a seat or if you an sit on the floor before you go into bed or when you get out off bed.

7 Bring your breakfast or snack with you
After your first night of partying you wake up destroyed because you always party too hard the first night, it is just the excitement that has to go out I think. When the first morning arrives and the sun drives you out of your tent you want water and something to eat. Bring at least breakfast for the first morning with you. Some oatbars, apples, water or bread with spread. It will make the start of your day so much better. You do not have to stroll around to find some food in your clothes from yesterday with your hair all cray cray.

irina festival

8 Don’t mind getting dirty
When you are on a festival, you will get dirty. Do not be all Barbie like and freak out, that is not sexy. Grab a wipe, refresh your face and dance! I do not say that you should not think about your personal hygiene, there are showers on the camping and use them everyday! Wash your hands after you come from the festival toilet but do not overdo it.

9 Drink enough water

10 Bring cash money
Festival drinks and food are expensive. If you bring cash you will keep track of what youre spending. Make sure you hide your cash well enough if you leave it in the tent when you are going to the festival area.

Last but not least. ENJOY!

Hope you have a great summer everybody! With love, Irina

Hotspot: Mama Kelly

Hello everyone,

Sunday the 02nd of August was my 24th Birthday! I had a blast, and celebrated it with friends on Solar Festival in the Netherlands. The next day I went out with my parents to grab dinner in one of the new hotspots in the Hague, Mama Kelly. The Restaurant opened in April 2015. Mama Kelly is located just outside the heart of the city on an industrial area near a canal. Plus side, because it is outside the heart of the city you have lots of parking space, for free! Mama Kelly is a bigger restaurant, or as they call themselves an Urban Bistro. The menu is quite simple, you can choose lobster or chicken, ofcourse there are also vegetarian options such as risotto and other options as fish and steak.

Mama Kelly

Overall the main focus of the bistro lies on lobster or chicken. You can have your lobster or chicken in three different but all very tasty flavours, it is served with fries and salad. I had the lobster and it was amazing, I love to eat lobster when there is  a  special occasion. Mama Kelly is a great restaurant and the food is amazing. Because it was very sunny we ate outside on the terrace which is huge by the way!

IMG_20150803_185314[1]

The service is great, it is so important for a new restaurant to have great staff it really can make or break your restaurant. Because it was my birthday I received a FREE yes, free bottle of prosecco with balloons on it from Mama Kelly. That was not all, on the bill they wrote a nice thank you note, and wished me all the best in the next year. That really made the whole Mama Kelly experience perfect.

IMG_20150803_181855[1]

Overall, just go, eat, drink and have fun at Mama Kelly.

Wish you all a lovely day, Irina

Let the adventurer out

Hello everyone,

Yesterday I went kitesurfing with Mike and our good friend Frank. It was really windy, I had not been on the water for three months because of school and work. The timing was just not right everytime there was wind. Yesterday was the right time, finally I have holidays (vacation) right now so there was no excuse not to go. Why do I need an excuse to do something I really love? That is the question, I did not know. Sometimes life can swallow you up and you forget to do the things that make you excited and you stick to the ‘normal’ life. You think that if you do not too crazy then everything will fall in its place. Yesterday I remembered that the adventurer part in me has died over the past months because life swallowed me up in stress and busy days. The advise is GO! Go out there, let everything out, seek the thrill. It may scare you at first but afterwards you feel so relieved and happy! Let the adventurer out!

– Think a little less, live a little more –

Seek your adventure, it can be anything, anything that makes you feel alive. I can recommend watching the film ‘Paper Towns’. In the film it is all about feeling alive, and live a little more. That is also the whole reason why I started kiteboarding, I wanted to do something I thought I never could. Now I can, but that does not mean that I don’t get a thingly feeling everytime I hit the water. Life truly begins at the end of your comfort zone.

adventure

Go seek your adventure girls! It will make you so much stronger!

With love, Irina ♡

I whitened my teeth

Hello everyone,

It finally happened, I whitened my teeth. Ever since my braces came off I wanted to whiten my teeth. It was not that my braces discolored my teeth that much, the real cause of a slight canary yellow was my enormous addiction to diet coke. I cannot live without having that nice brown juice every single day. From now on my addiction and love relationship with Coca Cola has to stop because I whitened my teeth. I will talk you trough the procedure, if it is painful and which food you can better avoid after you have whitened your teeth.

Procedure
I went to the white smile company in The Hague. I could choose out of four different treatments, the basis treatment, the intensive treatment, the premium or the VIP treatment. I chose the premium treatment, this takes about 1,5 hour. First you have to brush your teeth with a special toothpaste. The procedure is really simple, you will get a brace in your mouth that keeps your mouth wide open. Then the clinical dentist spreads a paste on your teeth, the they put the ultra violet light on your teeth for 20 minutes and if you chose the premium treatment this procedure will be repeated three times. I will insert a clip which will give you all the information you need to know about whitening your teeth.

Pain
Lets talk about pain, is whitening your teeth painful? I would say no, it is rather annoying that you have to keep your mouth wide, and then I mean really wide, open for 1,5 hours but it is not painful. Your teeth feel quit dry and sensitive the first day but it it not painful either. If your experience was totally different that is fine, but mine was not painful only irritating…

Food
If you want to keep the result after whitening for up to 1 or 2 years you have to avoid smoking, red wine, beetroot, soda’s, coffee and black tea as much as you can. I don’t smoke and never drunk a sip of coffee since an experiment in high school once so that is easy. However I love drinking soda’s and drinking red wine(s) so this part will be a lot harder. Now I think and I will try as hard as I can to stop drinking Coca Cola and red wine during the week. The weekends are ment to have fun so then I will eat and drink whatever I want! Sidenote, eat well before your treatment because after its done you cannot eat for three hours.

If you have any questions on whitening your teeth and my experience feel free to ask! And now the picture I took straight after I got my treatment done.

Have a nice day everyone, with love Irina.
